Dr. Sharon Ostfeld-Johns

Dr. Ostfeld-Johns is a Med-Peds hospitalist, expert in decreasing newborn toxicology testing, and supporting breastfeeding in the setting of prior substance use.

Dr. Ostfeld-Johns is a pediatric hospitalist and Assistant Professor at Yale School of Medicine specializing in newborn and family care. Her work focuses on prenatal substance exposure, newborn toxicology testing, breastfeeding and lactation, and improving health equity for families affected by substance use. She collaborates across medicine, social services, law, and child welfare to improve care and policy, with particular interests in reducing stigma and unnecessary testing and supporting families through the perinatal period.
